Help support us in building a free telemedicine clinic

Dear Friends,

Every week at West Avenue Compassion, we meet neighbors who are working hard, caring for their families, and doing everything they can to move forward — yet they still cannot access basic healthcare.

  • They delay treatment because they cannot afford it.
  • They ration medication.
  • They wait until a manageable condition becomes a crisis.

And when that crisis comes, it doesn’t just affect them. It affects emergency rooms. It affects hospitals. It affects taxpayers. It affects the long-term stability of the healthcare system we all depend on.

In San Antonio, tens of thousands of individuals remain uninsured or underinsured. Many live in areas with limited access to primary care. Without early intervention, chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and asthma escalate into costly emergencies. Preventable illnesses become hospitalizations. Small problems become systemic burdens.

We believe there is a better way.

West Avenue Compassion is working in partnership with local organizations, medical professionals, and community leaders to establish a free telemedicine clinic serving those most in need in our city.

Our goal is to raise $400,000 within the next six months to launch and sustain this initiative.

Once operational, this clinic will provide free primary care access to as many as 600 individuals each month.

This is not just about healthcare access. It is about upstream intervention. It is about addressing problems early — before they become catastrophic. It is about stabilizing lives so that parents can keep working, children can stay in school, and families can move toward long-term health and independence.

Preventive care and early treatment dramatically reduce downstream costs. By investing in this initiative, we can simultaneously improve community health outcomes and reduce the financial strain on emergency rooms, hospital systems, and public health infrastructure. This is compassionate care that is also fiscally responsible.

At West Avenue Compassion, we have seen what happens when a community comes together around a shared mission. Each year, we serve approximately 120,000 individuals, distribute hundreds of thousands of pounds of food, and connect thousands of neighbors to essential resources. This telemedicine clinic is a natural extension of that work — meeting people where they are and addressing one of the most urgent unmet needs in our city.

We are inviting individuals, businesses, healthcare partners, foundations, and civic leaders to join us financially in bringing this critical initiative to fruition.

An investment in this clinic is an investment in:

  • Health equity
  • System sustainability
  • Responsible stewardship of healthcare resources
  • And the dignity of every neighbor who deserves access to care

The need is growing daily. The opportunity is now.

Together, we can build a model of upstream care that strengthens not only individual lives but the long-term health of San Antonio as a whole.

We would be honored to have you stand with us in this effort. Click HERE to donate. Or, HERE for contact information. We would love to discuss this initiative with you.

With gratitude and determination,

Dr. Eric Buell
