Swap Meet Philosophy and Rules

The Swap Meet Philosophy

What we’re building here is more than just an event; it’s a community. A place grounded in the simple, powerful idea of people helping people.I like to call it the Giving Economy.

The idea is simple: when we give freely to one another, we create abundance. Scarcity only takes hold when we begin to hold back, when we ask for money, seek profit, or prioritize personal gain.

The traditional monetary economy is built on scarcity. It says, If someone wants something, I can charge more to get ahead. But what if we turned that idea around? What if, instead of trying to extract value, we focused on sharing it?

In the very first week of the swap meet, an older couple showed up with a handful of small household items; probably worth no more than $40. They left with a nearly new kitchen stove. Not because they paid for it, but because someone else simply gave it. That exchange was more meaningful, more profitable in every sense than anything money could have bought.

So let’s give this Giving Economy a real chance. Bring what you no longer need. Offer it freely. Browse what others have shared. Take what you can use. No price tags. No haggling. Just mutual generosity and community spirit.

When we stop thinking me and start thinking we, everyone wins.

Every Saturday at noon in the front parking lot.

Cheers, friends.

WAC Community Swap Meet - Guidelines for a Fair & Friendly Event

Welcome to our weekly Swap Meet! To make this a fun, safe, and respectful space for everyone, please follow the rules below:

✅ What to Do

1. Take Back What You Bring
If no one wants your items, you must take them home.
Please do not leave anything behind for others to clean up.

2. Watch Your Belongings
You are responsible for your own items.
If left unattended, they may be taken—we are not responsible for lost or missing items.

3. Unattended = Available
Items left alone are considered free to take. Keep an eye on your stuff if you're not ready to part with it.

4. Ask Before You Take
If someone is near a table or item, please ask if it’s free or if they’re looking to trade. Kindness goes a long way.

5. Be Respectful
Please treat others, their belongings, and the property with courtesy and respect at all times.

6. Obey the Law
No illegal activity of any kind. That includes stolen goods, counterfeit items, banned substances, or anything else prohibited by law.

7. Family-Friendly Only
Please make sure all items are appropriate for all ages. No explicit, offensive, or inappropriate materials.

9. No Weapons or Hazardous Items
For safety reasons, please do not bring weapons, chemicals, or anything that could cause harm.

10. Clean Up After Yourself
Please leave your space clean and tidy. Take your trash with you or dispose of it properly.

11. When in Doubt, Ask
Staff are here to help! Look for people wearing bright yellow vests if you need assistance or have a question.

💛 Let’s Make This a Great Experience for Everyone!

Thank you for being part of our community and helping us create a space built on sharing, respect, and care.
